About the Worship Pastor

The Worship Pastor at Southland Community Church will lead and oversee the worship ministry, working closely with the Senior Pastor to plan services and coordinate music, stage design, and other worship elements. This role includes developing and leading worship teams, recruiting and training volunteers, and organizing special services and events. The Worship Pastor will also provide spiritual guidance for worship team members and ensure a spiritually enriching environment for the congregation. Additional responsibilities include supporting congregational care, assisting with special services like weddings and funerals, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

The Worship Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Administration

  • Attend staff meetings
  • Participate in all scheduled staff functions and retreats
  • Develop and oversee the use of the worship ministries budget
  • Give oversight to the administrative operations of worship ministries, including supervision of Production Director and Well Worship leader
  • Provide a monthly report to the elders regarding worship ministries

Worship Ministry

  • Coordinate with the Senior Pastor orders of worship for all worship services, including the development of separate traditional music services and modern music services.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Pastor stage and auditorium décor/props to support sermons or sermon series.
  • Develop and direct the ministry of worship teams and choirs, when desired
  • Develop special musical groups for ministry inside and outside the church
  • Recruit and train instrumentalists and vocalists, as needed
  • Give oversight to the technical ministry (lights, sound, stage, video)
  • Develop and direct annual Christmas, Easter and other special productions
  • Implement drama into worship services, when appropriate
  • Provide spiritual development opportunities for all worship arts participants including:  rehearsal devotions, team Bible Studies, prayer meetings, or other spiritual growth resources
  • Oversee the recruiting, training and scheduling of communion servers
  • Oversight responsibilities for special ministry events requiring use of Worship Arts technical resources
  • Primary leader of The Classic Service

Congregational Care

  • Serve as a calling staff member to provide spiritual care, when needed
  • Back-up hospital or other visitation visits if Pastors are not available
  • Serve as an on-call Pastor, as scheduled
  • Responsible for all requests relative to special services, weddings, funerals etc. of Southland families
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
