About the Pastor of Teaching and Discipleship:

This full-time position serves on the Leadership Team. They serve as a co-pastor of the church and are the primary preacher/teacher. This position leads and oversees discipleship through the Adult, Kids/Students, and Worship Ministry teams.

The Pastor of Teaching and Discipleship's Responsibilities Include: 

Primary Preaching/Teaching Pastor 

• Co-pastors Remembrance Church with Pastor of Care and Leadership

• Provide Leadership to Staff as a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team 

1. Work closely with church leadership in discerning, refining, and stewarding God’s vision for RC

2. Work to ensure the effectiveness of the staff structure, along with measurables to ensure the staff stays on track and focused

3.  Fill open staff positions as needed 

• Primary Discipleship leader who champions vision, philosophy and implementation of Remembrance Church’s  Discipleship Strategy and Initiatives

• Primary for Proactive Shepherding Care with Elders

• Work closely with the Execution Team to ensure that ideas become reality 

•  Along with the Leadership Team, work closely with church leadership in discerning, refining, and stewarding God’s vision for Remembrance Church. 

1. Work on implementing changes to the Staff Structure

2. Work with Staff to develop and implement ministry plans to support the Annual Goals and Priorities

3. Work to ensure the effectiveness of the staff structure and the right people fill each position

4. Encourage and inspire all staff to succeed and excel in their responsibilities and ministry

5. Work closely with the Execution Team to ensure that ideas become reality

What You Bring:

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Pastor of Teaching and Discipleship:

• Must agree with and sign the Covenant of the Ordained, be ordained as a pastor in a manner recognized by the  Alliance of Reformed Churches (original ordination, transfer, or as an affiliate pastor whose ordination remains with  another denomination).  

• A Master's (Divinity, Theology, or related) degree preferred  and a minimum of eight years’ experience as a Pastor of  a local congregation.

• Strong leadership skills

• Able to delegate, enable and direct others. 

• Ability to address conflict and work to remedy difficult situations 

• Naturally Self-motivated

• Strong verbal communication skills 

• Strong interpersonal skills; a team player 

• Natural ability to collaborate and work well with others 

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite

• Believes and supports the evangelical Christian faith in the Reformed tradition as outlined in the Organizational  Convictions of the Alliance of Reformed Churches.  

• Must agree with and sign the Covenant of the Ordained, and ordained as a pastor in a manner recognized by the  Alliance of Reformed Churches (original ordination, transfer, or as an affiliate pastor whose ordination remains with another denomination).  

• Embraces Remembrance Church’s shared leadership model.

• Actively worshipping and involved at Remembrance Church. 

• Self Aware, Healthy,  and Humble
