Meet Liberty Tavares Church: 

Liberty Church, Tavares, FL, began in July 1976. From the beginning, Liberty Church’s vision has been to reach the community and tri-city area with the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus and to see lives changed. As the church grew, so did the vision of starting a Christian school for families with kids. That dream became reality in 1984, and today, Liberty Christian Prep School is a thriving, growing ministry of Liberty Church. From its beginning, Liberty Church has only had three Lead Pastors. When the second pastor retired in 2011, Liberty’s Associate Pastor, Greg Watts, became the next Lead Pastor.  Today that vision has not changed, and Liberty Church remains a place where people can come experience life through a relationship with Jesus Christ. 

About the Student Pastor

Liberty Church is seeking a passionate and dedicated Student  Pastor to lead a dynamic, evangelistic student program focused on engaging students from Liberty Christian Preparatory School as well as local public schools. The Student Pastor will disciple students in their faith, coordinate impactful retreats and camps, and serve on public school campuses through Christian clubs and sports events to expand the reach of the gospel. This role requires a commitment to mentoring students and building a ministry that fosters spiritual growth, community, and service.

The Student Pastor Responsibilities Include

Evangelistic Outreach and Campus Engagement

• Develop and implement evangelistic programs that connect with students at Liberty Christian Preparatory School and local public schools.

• Partner with on-campus Christian clubs and participate in sports events to build relationships and provide a visible church presence.

• Organize outreach initiatives to engage non-churchgoing students and introduce them to faith in Jesus.

Student Discipleship and Mentorship 

• Lead Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship programs that encourage students to grow in their faith and apply biblical principles in their lives.

• Offer one-on-one mentoring to youth, addressing spiritual questions and challenges, and encouraging them in their walk with God.

• Train and equip student leaders, helping them to serve as role models and lead their peers.

• Plan and execute annual retreats, summer camps, and special events that provide students with opportunities for spiritual growth, community, and life-changing experiences.

• Coordinate event logistics, including budgeting, scheduling, transportation, and accommodation, ensuring that each event is well-organized and meaningful.

• Partner with church staff and volunteers to create engaging and memorable experiences for students. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and families at Liberty Christian Preparatory School.

• Serve as a spiritual resource and mentor on campus, supporting school initiatives, attending key events, and representing the church’s mission and values.

• Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to support youth ministry events, small groups, and discipleship programs.

• Provide volunteers with the resources, encouragement, and support they need to serve effectively and feel valued within the ministry.

  

What You Bring:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, Theology, Youth Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Prior experience in student ministry, with a proven ability to connect with and disciple young people.

  

Personal Characteristics & Qualifications

• A deep love for Jesus and a calling to reach and disciple the next generation.

• Ability to relate well with students and build lasting, Christ-centered relationships.

• Flexible, energetic, and able to adapt to the unique needs of youth ministry.

• Team-oriented, collaborative, and willing to support Liberty Church’s broader mission.

• Strong organizational skills and experience coordinating events such as camps, retreats, or large gatherings.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for evangelism and student mentorship.
