The youth pastor at Lakeside plays a vital role in nurturing the spiritual growth and development of the church's young people. With a passion for guiding youth through their faith journeys, the pastor organizes engaging activities, Bible studies, and community service projects that foster connection and personal growth. Known for their approachable nature and strong leadership, the youth pastor creates a welcoming environment where every young person feels valued and empowered to explore their faith. Their commitment to building lasting relationships with the youth helps cultivate a supportive and vibrant community within the church.

To minister in the Name of Jesus to all students (ages 12-25) and young adults of the Lakeside Assembly of God congregation and community. To oversee all Lakeside Student and Young Adult Ministries Leadership. To assist the Lead Pastor in strategic leadership fulfilling Lakeside’s vision of providing ministry in accordance to her sevenfold purposes as a New Testament church (Worship, Outreach, Discipleship, Fellowship, Prayer, Spirit Empowerment, and Serving).

General Responsibilities-

Oversee the Christian training of all students and young adults.

Coordinate all discipleship, outreach, and social activities related to students and young adults (12-25).

Lakeside existing ministries would include: worship gatherings; small group ministry; leadership training; Christian education; outreach; music/drama; and social events.

Serve as a Pastoral Team member to the Lakeside Family.

Minister to people’s needs.

Be a pace-setter in hospitality and love to all.

Assist the Lead Pastor.

The calling of all Lakeside’s associate pastors is first to the Lead Pastor and secondly to their specific portfolio of ministry (i.e. children, youth, music, etc.).

Pastoral Team Members need to be prepared to assist in leading services and preaching whenever required by the Lead Pastor

Specific Responsibilities-

Service Leadership
-
Personally lead weekly student ministry worship gatherings.
-
Student Ministry worship gatherings should be culturally and age relevant, emphasize variety, and geared towards spiritual and numerical growth.

Discipleship
-
Be an advisor with the Family Life Pastor in Student Ministry discipleship and Christian education.

Develop ministries and events for students and young adults to be Chrsit Followers.
-
Select and train discipleship leaders (i.e. small group leaders).
-
Promote participation in Sectional, District, and National Assembly of God events (i.e. Bible Quiz, Fine Arts, summer camp, etc.).

Pastoral Care

Try to visit all students (i.e. homes, schools, etc.).
-
Lead a contact ministry among all students.
-
Minister in hospital visitations.

Leadership and Ministry Training
-
Recruit and train student ministry leadership.
-
Supply a ministry portfolio (job description) for all leadership.
-
Make an effort to discern the gifts of individual students and equip them for ministry.

Oversee a varied level Outreach program.
-
Lead students to be faithful in relational evangelism.
-
Organize outreach events for community evangelism.
-
Opportunity is also available to lead students in both domestic and international short term missions trips.

Promote Quality Relationships
-
Maintain a consistent calendar of social and recreational events to build relationships.
-
Plan or oversee monthly student social activities.
-
The Student Ministries Pastor does not need to attend all events, but can delegate the oversight of these activities to Student Ministry Leaders

Administration
-
Maintain an enrollment of all Lakeside youth.
-
Maintain a consistent calendar of services, events, activities related to student and young adult ministry (i.e. special services, outreaches, youth camps, retreats, conventions, seminars, concerts, etc.).

Demonstrate quality Financial Management over all Student and Young Adult Ministry finances.

The Student Ministry budget is totally subsidized by Lakeside’s General Fund.

The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for creating and managing Lakeside’s Student Ministry budget.

The Student Ministries Pastor will be responsible to follow all Lakeside financial policies.

The Student Ministry Pastor must demonstrate quality financial management and keep all portfolio ministries and events within budget.

- Relationships

To the Lead Pastor
-
Lakeside’s Student Ministry pastor is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor in all matters relating to the performance of his ministry and leadership.

To the Church Board
-
Lakeside’s Student Ministry pastor will serve as advisor to the Official Board in matters relating to Student Ministries, but only if called upon by the Lead Pastor

The other Lakeside Pastors, Directors, and Employee Team Members
-
Lakeside’s Student Ministry Pastor will corporate and work as a Team Member with other Lakeside employee team members.

Lakeside’s Student Ministries Pastor will seek to encourage the ministries of other Lakeside Leaders, accepting differences, praising strengths, and appreciating overlapping skills.

- Communication

Lakeside’s Student Ministry Pastor will keep the Lead Pastor informed of all the work and activity for which he is responsible.

All fund raising projects are to receive the Lead Pastor’s clearance

It is the Student Ministry Pastor’s responsibility to express a vision, enthusiasm, and calling for Lakeside’s Student Ministries.
