The Role: Lead Pastor
Meet CityBridge:
CityBridge is an independent, elder-led church located in Plano, Texas, within the fast-growing Collin County, just north of Dallas. Originally a satellite campus of Watermark Community Church, it became an independent church in 2021. With an active membership of 1,050 and an average weekly attendance of around 2,000, the church is deeply committed to community involvement. The congregation is predominantly made up of married individuals (90%), with a slightly higher percentage of females (53%) than males (47%). The church’s demographic is relatively young, with an average member age of 41. Additionally, 88% of members serve actively within the church, and nearly the same percentage (88%) are engaged in small community groups, reflecting a strong sense of community and discipleship.
The leadership at CityBridge adheres to a dispensational view of Scripture, emphasizing the importance of biblical authority while maintaining flexibility where Scripture allows. This doctrinal stance influences the church's teaching and ministry, as the leadership seeks to be firm where Scripture is clear and adaptable where it is not. As an elder-led church, CityBridge values strong biblical leadership and accountability, ensuring sound doctrine is upheld in all areas of ministry. Celebrating stories of life transformation is an important value to the church, and the staff and membership enjoy a culture of having fun together while being on mission.
The church’s focus on family life and its engagement in the local community aligns with the needs of its congregation, particularly young families, and highlights its mission to serve and disciple in a rapidly growing suburban context. As one example of this commitment to the community, the church started and helps oversee the CityBridge Health Clinic in Plano, where thousands of uninsured people in Collin County each year are cared for physically and spiritually.
About the Lead Pastor:
The Lead Pastor at CityBridge would have oversight of the church staff, which consists of 30 employees, and would serve as an elder alongside six other elders. As a primary teacher, the Lead Pastor would be responsible for delivering sound biblical teaching and preaching, serving as the most visible elder in communicating with the congregation. While the Lead Pastor’s role includes significant public teaching and leadership, their primary responsibility is to be a shepherd to the flock, providing spiritual care, guidance, and pastoral leadership to the members of the church. The Lead Pastor’s leadership would be rooted in a deep commitment to the well-being and spiritual growth of the congregation, ensuring the church remains faithful to its mission and doctrinal convictions.
