About the Chief Content Officer

The Chief Content Officer (CCO) is a dynamic and innovative leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that effectively communicates the church’s mission, vision, and values to its diverse congregation and the broader community. The CCO is directly responsible for the creative development, production, and post-production of high-quality content for ITOWN TV, The “Mama Kate” Podcast, ITOWN Church’s YouTube channel, and other media platforms. Additionally, the CCO serves as a curator of other forms of content including books, curriculum, worship albums, and such. This role requires a strong understanding of storytelling, technical expertise, and a passion for creating engaging and impactful content that aligns with ITOWN’s mission and vision.

The CCO will have the opportunity to innovate in the world of Christian content and push into areas that have not been touched before.  The ideal candidate is a risk-taker who wants to help reach people in brand new ways with the hope and message of Jesus Christ.

The Chief Content Officer’s responsibilities include:

Content Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement a robust content strategy that aligns with the church’s overall strategic plan and ministry objectives.
  • Conduct thorough audience research and analysis to understand the needs and preferences of different target audiences.
  • Identify key content pillars and develop editorial calendars to ensure consistent and timely content delivery across all channels.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders, pastors, and staff to gather content ideas and ensure alignment with their respective ministries.

Content Creation & Production:

  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging content across various platforms and formats, including:
    • Sermons & Messages: Develop creative and impactful ways to package and distribute sermons, teachings, and messages (e.g., video, audio, transcripts, books, curriculum).
    • Video & Multimedia: Oversee the production of high-quality videos, including live streams, promotional videos, and documentary-style content. Manage the creation and distribution of YouTube Channel, ITOWN TV, Mama Kate Podcast,  web content, blog posts, and other digital assets.
    • Graphic Design & Multimedia: Collaborate with designers to create visually appealing graphics, presentations, and other multimedia content.

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of content creators, editors, and marketers.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation and experimentation.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management of team members.
  • Collaborate effectively with the communications team and other departments within the church.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including pastors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and address any challenges proactively.

Measurement & Analysis:

  • Track key metrics and analyze content performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform content strategy and optimize campaigns for maximum impact.
  • Regularly report on content performance and provide insights to senior leadership.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in content marketing and digital communication.
  • Explore and implement new technologies and tools to enhance content creation, distribution, and engagement.
  • Ensure that all content is accessible and optimized for all devices and platforms.

Production:

  • Oversee all aspects of video production, including pre-production, filming, and post-production.
  • Understanding of lighting and set design.
  • Direct on-camera talent, including pastors, musicians, and guests.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient production on set.
  • Manage equipment and resources effectively.

Media Management:

  • Manage and maintain the church’s video library and archives.
  • Ensure all video content adheres to broadcast standards and legal requirements. 
  • Explore and implement new technologies and trends in video production and media distribution.

What you bring

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • Professional experience in high-level content creation, with a strong emphasis on pre-production, planning and strategy.
  • Professional experience in  leading a team of video producers, editors, and post-production processes. 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to develop and implement long-term content strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Ability to generate original ideas and develop engaging content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, through multiple mediums..
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Proficiency in operating cameras, audio recording equipment, and lighting equipment.
  • Experience with live streaming and online video platforms.

Personal characteristics and qualifications

  • Proven ability to tell compelling stories through video.
  • Strong understanding of video production techniques, including lighting, sound, and camera operation.
  • Proficiency in video editing software.
  • Experience with motion graphics software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Passion for the ministry of ITOWN and a strong understanding of its culture.
