Meet NewHope Church
NewHope Church is a significant regional church in the heart of the Carolinas. The church was founded in 2002 and has seen remarkable growth over the years with 2,100 in attendance. NewHope is well known for its relevant biblical teaching, upbeat and contemporary worship, missional outreach, life group gatherings in homes, excellent children’s programs, and high-impact student ministries.
Missing an executive leader
After recently closing a successful search with Vanderbloemen for a senior pastor, NewHope Church began a search for their next chief financial officer. This person would sit on the executive team and manage the church through planning, implementing, and facilitating financial-related activities.
Among other tasks, the CFO would be entrusted with banking, accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, purchasing, and investing for NewHope Church. Once hired, the right person could play a major role in pursuing NewHope Church’s vision.
Future-proofing the mission
Director of Executive Search Eugene Lee met with stakeholders and began to build a profile of exactly what NewHope Church needed in a CFO. NewHope needed someone who could put strong financial policies and governance in place, while building trust with the board, to steward the mission into the future.
In addition to relevant education and years of experience, the ideal candidate would have to be dependable, skilled, and a joy to follow. New Hope was looking for someone with strong emotional intelligence, who could hit the ground running, work with multiple personalities, and be comfortable with ambiguity around what the future holds.
More than their background, this person’s heart would need to align with NewHope Church’s beliefs and mission in order to lead the team toward their common purpose.
Aaron checked all the right boxes
Eugene compiled an impressive presentation of the first slate of candidates for the search team at NewHope Church to sift through. One candidate stood out as the future hire – a local candidate named Aaron Stork.
Living just 25 miles down the road, Aaron Stork joined the team from Raleigh, NC. Aaron’s resume checked all the right boxes, with relevant skills acquired through years of experience and a master’s degree in finance, as well as community involvement in his local church and nearby nonprofits.
“Aaron brings a wealth of experience and a local connection, having previously crossed paths with the Senior Pastor in NYC,” Eugene says. “We’re confident he’ll be a valuable asset to the NewHope team.”
Also conducting a search for a new student pastor, NewHope Church continues to partner with Vanderbloemen for a third search in one year. In these partnerships, NewHope Church remains committed to building a strong, dynamic team to lead their congregation toward their vision.
