About the Associate Pastor
The Associate Pastor is called by God to assist the Senior Pastor in fulfilling the Church’s mission and vision. The Associate Pastor reports directly to the Senior Pastor. He is responsible for overseeing the Church’s assimilation process, engaging in pastoral care and leading and managing the Church’s support staff. The Associate Pastor must meet all Scriptural qualifications as listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

The Associate Pastor’s responsibilities include:
- Assists the Senior Pastor in leading the congregation in effective ministry to fulfill the Church’s vision and mission.
- Serves as a member of the Elder Council.
- Gives oversight and leadership to all areas of adult discipleship (Connect Groups, Men, Women, etc.)
- Works with FBC Kids and Student Leadership to maintain and grow a vertically aligned strategy of discipleship.
- Leads and demonstrates effective ways to witness and win the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ.
- Serves as Overseer/Administrator of paid church support staff, supervises and evaluates the tasks assigned to each.
- Oversees the entire process of assimilating people into the body, specifically being connected into worship, finding community, and committed to service.
- Reaches and connects with multi-generational adults and families with the primary purpose of helping them grow in relationship with Jesus.
- Encourages and equips others to share their faith, actively engaging in outreach efforts and evangelistic opportunities within the community.
- Invests in the development, growth, and training of Connect Group leaders through training, one-on-one, and group development.
- Leads and demonstrates effective ways to witness and win the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ.
- Serves as Overseer/Administrator of paid church support staff, supervises and evaluates the tasks assigned to each.
- Recruits and trains members for service on Serve Teams (committees and ministry teams).
- Handles administrative duties related to Discipleship Ministry, such as budget management, record-keeping, communication, and coordination with other church staff members.
- Acts as the liaison between First Christian Academy and FBC.
- Pursues ongoing personal and professional development through reading, attending conferences, networking, and staying updated on current trends and resources in ministry.
- Adheres to the Church’s Bylaws, Policies, and Procedures adopted by the Church.
- Gives full support biblically to the Budget of the Church.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Prepares strategies that provide pathways for connecting people with small groups and small group multiplication.
Pastoral Care Responsibilities
- Functions as a pastor to the congregation, being available to build relationships, counsel, visit, and otherwise pastor the congregation.
- Assists in visiting and ministering to members and prospective members in homes, nursing care facilities, and hospitals.
- Actively visits people in crisis situations.
- Assists in preaching and teaching, conducting counseling sessions, performing wedding ceremonies, and conducting funeral services when needed.

Education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Completed Seminary Degree preferred

- Strong Biblical Knowledge: A deep understanding of Scripture and Christian theology.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate God’s Word and mentor others.
- Leadership and Mentoring Skills: Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate others.
- Pastoral Care Skills: Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide support and guidance.
- Organizational and Planning Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and implement discipleship programs and initiatives.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships and connect with people from all walks of life.
- Experience: Experience in discipleship ministry is also often preferred.

- Maintains an ongoing personal relationship with God through daily spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading and prayer.
- Maintains proper priorities at home with his wife and family.
- Maintains a positive personal witness in both the church and the community.
