Established in 1860 to educate men and women from diverse ethnic backgrounds in the United States and abroad, Wheaton is a private, residential, and interdenominational Christian liberal arts college. Wheaton College is known for its Christ-centered academic rigor, commitment to the liberal arts, and students who are motivated to work with world-renowned professors and similarly minded classmates. Wheaton College educates over 3,000 students and has over 800 staff members.
Opportunity
Wheaton was in search of a new Chaplain, with their former Chaplain departing. They wanted someone who could be present for the students and share the same heart as Wheaton College. Knowing they would need outside help to fill the role, they reached out to Vanderbloemen for the search. Our Senior Executive Search Consultant, Brian Jensen went to Illinois to spend some time at Wheaton with Dr.Ryken, President of Wheaton College to find out what they were looking for in a Chaplain.
The Chaplain at Wheaton would give leadership for the spiritual formation of the campus community and provides pastoral care for students, faculty, and staff.
Solution
Throughout this search, Vanderbloemen wanted to search for a candidate that would share the same mission as Wheaton College. During the search process, our consultant came across a candidate who happened to be an alumni student of Wheaton College. President Ryken loved knowing that someone who went to Wheaton would be able to share their personal experiences and support student development. We are glad to introduce the new Chaplain of Wheaton College, Reverend Dr. Angulus D. Wilson.
After being presented with multiple candidates, it was clear that Dr. Wilson was the perfect choice for Wheaton. With his previous experience with the college and also being once a student as well. Dr. Wilson always had the heart to give back to Wheaton College; this was a perfect opportunity.
