Meet Water of Life Community Church
Water of Life Community Church is an evangelical, charismatic church that has been devoted to transforming lives since 1990. Their founder, Dr. Dan Carroll, still serves as their senior pastor, helping the church stay rooted in its core values of healing, sending, caring, equipping, and relationships. Water of Life’s congregation is made up of people who are committed to transforming neighborhoods and nations by studying and obeying the Bible together. As a church, they are known for having a passion for God and compassion for people.
Opportunity
While the church has a long-standing devotion to global impact, its team was missing a key member to spearhead its outreach efforts. Water of Life needed to find a Director of Global Outreach who would align with the church’s heart while being a capable and experienced leader. This person would functionally spearhead the church’s execution of its core value of sending, which they define as “establishing long-term relationships throughout the world in order to transform lives".
Solution
Water of Life’s search team, comprised of staff and elders, enlisted the help of Vanderbloemen Search Group to expand their reach and condense their timeline. This would allow their staff to focus on their church’s continued function and community in the meantime.
The church staff immediately connected with Vanderbloemen’s Senior Executive Search Consultant Eric Albert, who began the official search process. Through thorough conversation, Eric created a profile of Water of Life as a church, their team’s culture, and the qualifications their Director of Global Outreach would bring in order to succeed in the role.
From there, Recruiting Operations Manager Emily Hernandez-Basquez continued the search and began to identify the best matches to Water of Life’s needs. After a round of interviews, Eric presented the four strongest candidates, one of whom, Jason Urbanski, happened to be a brand new attendee at Water of Life.
Result
Jason and Julia, his wife of 26 years, were in a transition season. They hoped to find a church home within the Inland Empire where they could continue living out their calling of outreach and discipleship.
“I love seeing the physical and spiritual needs of others being met through the partnerships,” Jason says, “and I love seeing the spiritual growth that occurs in the lives of the volunteers.”
Jason has extensive experience in outreach and evangelism, including building and maintaining global relationships for churches. It was clear to Water of Life that Jason had both the passion and experience they needed on their team. Likewise, it was clear to Jason that Water of Life had a heart for local and global missions, and that partnering with this church would be a perfect opportunity for him to continue living out the Lord’s calling on his life.
When Jason accepted Water of Life’s offer to join their team as the Director of Global Outreach, he ended his search for a church home, and the church had found the piece they needed to better pursue their mission and equip their congregation.
