Founded in 1974, Mesilla Valley Christian School (MVCS) serves 425 students by providing a Christ-centered education that integrates a Biblical worldview into its curriculum. The teaching and values emphasize academic excellence alongside spiritual development. The school offers a range of academic programs, extracurricular activities, and sports programs to provide a well-rounded educational experience for its students.
Their mission is to support the home, church, and community by equipping the next generation of godly servant-leaders with an exceptional Christ-centered, college preparatory education.
Opportunity
Mesilla Valley Christian School (MVCS) had a strong team with one vital piece missing — they needed a Head of School. This person would lead the entire faculty and staff with various responsibilities spanning students' social, spiritual, and academic development. Once placed, the Head of School would be the primary leader ensuring the overall successful operation of the ministry.
Staff at MVCS are defined as being sincerely called, spiritually mature, and specifically prepared. To fit this standard, MVCS would need a born-again Christian with a passion for the Christian school philosophy of education. A skilled communicator and relational leader would thrive within the existing team culture and propel the team forward.
Solution
In order to expand their reach in finding the right leader, Mesilla Valley Christian School reached out to partner with Vanderbloemen. Soon a detailed vision of this person’s qualifications and values had developed, and the search officially began.

With a master’s in Education Administration, nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher, and recent experience as a principal, Scott Roley offered just the right perspective MVCS needed to lead their school. After accepting the offer to join MVCS’s team, Scott and his wife spent the summer relocating from Michigan to New Mexico to begin an exciting new chapter with MVCS.
