Meet 12Stone Church
12Stone Church was founded in 1987 with a desire to plant a church that would be relevant, fun, challenging, and impacting for generations. Through the years, 12Stone has seen God move and work in many wonderful ways.
The church is praying to reach the next generation to carry on 12Stone's mission of reaching as many people as possible for as long as they can.
Opportunity
Having grown to the extent of having nine campuses, the 12Stone staff realized they needed to create a new role. They needed someone to align the campuses in unity toward the church’s shared vision. They began building a profile for their ideal Pastor of Campuses.
In partnership with the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor, the Pastor of Campuses would support the vision of 12Stone Church by providing strategic leadership and alignment to all nine campuses. The team was searching for a candidate who would enjoy living out a daily purpose of leading the campuses and reaching more people.
Solution
After many successful searches with Vanderbloemen, 12Stone partnered with Executive Search Consultant Kristin Fry again to begin the search for a Pastor of Campuses. Kristin discussed 12Stone’s specific vision for the Pastor of Campuses role and swiftly initiated the search.
12Stone would need someone with years of applicable experience, leadership skills, and a pastor’s heart, among many other traits. As qualified candidates arose, that vision for who the Pastor of Campuses would be continued to develop, leading the team to one candidate.
Result
Joe Rice fit the mold Kristin and the search team had developed. He had years of experience in nonprofit business management, which shifted to church staff experience early in his career when he encountered a call to ministry. He applied work-life skills to church-life, and he gained a passion for the idea that “leaders lead leaders.”
Because of his upbringing as the child of a career navy officer and a missionary, Joe grew up all around the world. His upbringing created in him a unique worldview, a passion for culture, and a desire to understand others deeply.
Conveniently, Joe already lived nearby and was able to join the 12Stone team immediately as their first-ever Pastor of Campuses.
