William Vanderbloemen Featured In Baptist News Global Article

William Vanderbloemen, CEO and Founder of Vanderbloemen Search Group, comments in a Baptist News Global article on how much more common and frequent it has become for individuals to switch denominations.
“It is much more frequent now than it was 10 years ago, whether it’s leaving the Baptist church or someone coming into the Baptist church,” he says.
He also explains how religious organizations more recently have had to search outside traditional circles for qualified people to fill leadership positions. It is becoming increasingly difficult for churches to fill these roles with someone from their own family.
William compares doing a search for a church to performing a heart transplant. "We are asking an outsider to come inside the body and run the operations of the church."
This process may be smoother in non-denominational settings, but finding a "tissue match" can be a challenge for Baptists. "You can put a healthy heart into a healthy body and it does not end well," he says.
One reason for this issue is culture. Even within the Southern Baptist denomination, individual churches may differ in style, priorities, and theology. William gives this example:
“It’s hard for me to take someone from the deep South and put them in Seattle, even if it’s a Southern Baptist going to a Southern Baptist church.”
