WINSTON SALEM, North Carolina – New Church has expanded its leadership team with a key hire, with Matt Richardson stepping in to serve as their new Lead Pastor. Matt joins New Church after previously serving as the Teaching Pastor at The River Christian Church.
New Church, located in Winston Salem, is a nondenominational church serving more than 300 members each week in their North Carolina community.
Vanderbloemen, serving clients with a greater purpose, including churches, schools, nonprofits, family offices, and values-based businesses, loves the whole church and is honored to have partnered with New Church on this vital and important hire.
"Partnering with New Church to find Matt Richardson to serve as their new Lead Pastor was a privilege. It’s always incredible to watch God connect a church and candidate to fulfill His purpose," said Executive Search Consultant, Brian Dunks. " TJ Ward has served very well founding and pastoring this great group of believers, and after a few weeks of overlap and transition, TJ will hand the baton to Matt and allow him to take the Lead," said Dunks.
Matt—a husband, father, and pastor who is passionate about communicating the Word of God to enable people of all ages and cultures to experience life in Christ— brings nearly a decade of experience in pastoral ministry, including roles as a young adult pastor and working in student ministry. He and his wife, Emily, and their two children are excited about joining the community of faith at New Church.
Since its founding in 2011, God has continued to grow New Church, both in numbers of people and in levels of faith. As of 2019, over 300 people have placed their faith in Jesus for salvation, and over 200 people have publicly identified with Jesus through baptism.
Marriages are restored, addictions are being broken, people are being connected to each other through significant relationships, and many are using their talents and abilities to serve others through New Church. In addition, New Church has given over four hundred thousand dollars to local and international missions and they’ve helped plant seventeen churches, many of which are actively involved in starting other churches.
God has used New Church to impact people’s lives in significant ways that will reach beyond this life and into eternity, and they believe this is only the beginning of what God has in store!
