Capital Church’s ultimate goal is simple: “to lead people to become Christ-centered disciples.” With two locations in Utah, Salt Lake and Park City, the church strives to disciple followers of Christ to take responsibility for their walks with Christ, devote themselves to fellowship, and invest sacrificially in their community. 

As they sought out a new Campus Pastor to lead their Park City location, Capital Church wanted a people person who could inspire and shepherd a congregation. The primary responsibility of this role is to connect with congregation members, so it was critical that the candidate chosen for this role be enthusiastic and willing to invest in the church community.

Bruce Helgeson’s unique combination of passions and experience made him an ideal fit for this role. Having previously served as a youth director at Roseau Covenant and connections pastor at HOPE Church, he knew the commitment and passion that pastoral leadership requires. He received a Masters of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary and even served as the Chaplain for the University of North Dakota hockey team. After taking time away from ministry and having moved to Utah to be closer to family, Hegelson felt a desire to return to a pastoral role, specifically in Park City, where his wife worked. His passion for the Park City community and the need for the Gospel there aligns with the mission and vision of Capital Church, and the pairing was a clear match.
