The Role: Children's Ministry Director

Meet Vinings Church: 

Vinings Church began as a church plant in 2017. After many years of planning, the church launched through social justice ministry. Over the years, they have kept their church plant mindset - believing and trusting that God, in His process, is writing His story, and they have an important part to play in Atlanta. 

Vinings Church is known for having built excellent ministries that serve people far from God in their community, right where they are, and bring the hope of Jesus to the world. Vinings passionately leads ministries that communicate the Gospel. Their ministries meet the needs of the community by working with organizations to feed the homeless, fight human trafficking, and collect for Title 1 schools. We build relationships with the people we serve or those who come through our doors in order to lead them to Jesus Christ.

About the Children's Ministry Director:

The Children’s Ministry Director will be responsible for coordinating, planning and the execution of all campus events, activities and services of Birth – 5th Grade. The Director works under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years full time Kid’s Ministry experience, ideally in a church 200 or larger in size.. 

• A Master’s Degree in Children's Ministry from a seminary is preferred. Minimum Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of Full Time Ministry Experience.

Mission Critical Responsibilities 

• Team Build and Maintain open and frequent communication with Lead Pastor, Associate Staff and your Volunteer Directors and Volunteers (called “WayMakers”).

  

The Children's Ministry Director Responsibilities Include: 

Role Specific: 

• Oversee recruitment, apprenticing, and training of new ministry volunteers at Vinings Church.

• Recruit volunteer leadership team and their volunteers for Vinings Children’s Ministry.

• Lead team meetings for Vinings Children’s Ministry.

• Oversee recruitment, apprenticing, and training of new and current volunteers.

• Oversee weekday volunteer teams that prepares curriculum for Sunday morning Vinings Campus small groups.

• Produce consistent evaluation of the team for first time guests, security, and greeting regular attenders.

• Provide consistent evaluation of overall programming, presentation, and general appearance of Children’s Ministry Environments.

• Maintain and organize Vinings supplies and inventory.

• Maintains safety and security for all services by ensuring each classroom is adequately staffed with two adults in every classroom and no adult is left alone with a child. Also maintains best practice ratios for all age groups.

• Facilitate quarterly (90 day) evaluations of programming environments and volunteers with each Volunteer Director.

• Propose and administer the Vinings Children’s Ministry budget and yearly goals.

• Assist with the planning and execution of special events with your team including:

Family Birthday Celebration and Family Dedication (including orientations) Involved Sundays

Lead a Summer Camp

Lead planning and execute quarterly parent experience for Children’s Ministry

Worship Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop volunteer Worship and Puppet Coach in Nursery and Preschool environments

• Lead and develop volunteer Worship and Dance Director/Coach in Elementary

• Build, oversee, and apprentice teams and leaders for vocals and dance crew, with the help of volunteer directors.

• Lead and develop volunteer Director for Special Needs Ministry

• Oversee the Sunday programming for our Vinings Children’s Ministry needs

Technical Production:

• Lead and develop volunteer Tech team director.

• Oversee/Delegate flow of services through scripts, including transitions, introductions, and cues.

• Managing service producers and technicians.

• Oversee/Delegate maintenance and quality of sound and lighting equipment.

Communication Team Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop volunteer communicators, including storytellers, hosts, puppets, and characters.

• Oversee/Delegate the editing of scripts for large group environments.

Creative Production Responsibilities:

• Lead teams with vision, brainstorming, and producing creative ideas for use in services and programs using a Creative team of 4-8 people who bring fresh ideas to the Vinings Kids environments.

• All Large Group and Small Group directors in Whimsy and Storyland report directly to Ink Director.

• Approve and Supervise all small group activities

Groups Responsibilities:

• Oversee recruitment, apprenticing and training of new Vinings small group volunteers.

• Create parent tools and maintain social media presence for Vinings parents.

   

1st Impressions Responsibilities:

• Maintain a great guest experience at our check-in stations.

• Maintain a level of security and safety during drop-off and pick-up times

Parent Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies to partner with parents to help them connect/communicate/disciple their children.

• Utilize Orange Concepts and Philosophy to engage parents and families

Other Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a working budget for Children’s ministry based on yearly goals.

• Perform all other duties assigned by the NextGen Director or other Senior Staff Members.

• Honor God and Vinings Church with a servant heart lived out in job, ministry, and lifestyle.

• Adhere to the Vinings Staff Values and Ethics

• Complete any other tasks assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Northwest Atlanta is a suburban/urban, professional, diverse area. There are 800,000 unchurched people who live within 10 miles of our building so there is ample opportunity to reach lost people. You will find communities and people groups of ALL kinds, and yet most of the people are professionals (white collar). Being in a metropolitan city, there is no lack for any opportunity and kind of person to meet. Vinings Church is right off the highway, so all of the city is within driving distance. Finally, Vinings Church is a young and diverse church who targets the mainstream, unchurched person with the message of Jesus Christ. Internally, Vinings Church looks exactly like our community (diverse).
