About the HR Director:

Progressive Auto Sales seeks a passionate and experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our growing team.  In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent committed to living out the mission, vision and values of our organization at all levels of service.

The HR Director Responsibilities Include: 

  1. Recruitment and Staffing

  • Job Postings: Create and post job advertisements on various platforms to attract candidates.

  • Screening Candidates: Review resumes, conduct initial interviews, and shortlist candidates for further interviews with department heads.

  • Onboarding: Facilitate the onboarding process, including paperwork, orientation, and introduction to company policies and culture.

  1. Employee Relations

  • Conflict Resolution: Address employee grievances and conflicts, providing mediation and solutions.

  • Communication: Serve as a bridge between management and employees to ensure clear communication and alignment with company goals.

  • Employee Engagement: Develop and implement programs to boost employee morale and engagement, such as recognition programs, and team-building activities.

  1. Compliance and Policy Management

  • Policy Development: Create, update, and enforce HR policies in accordance with federal and provincial laws.

  • Compliance: Ensure that the company complies with labour laws, including wage and hour laws, equal employment opportunity regulations, and workplace safety standards.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personal information, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.

  1. Development

  • Performance Management: Assist in the development and implementation of performance review processes, setting objectives, and providing feedback.

  1. Benefits

  • Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs ensuring employees understand and can access their benefits.

  1. Safety

  • Workplace Safety: Collaborate with management to ensure a safe working environment, including conducting safety audits and addressing potential hazards.

  1. Employee Offboarding

  • Exit Interviews: Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback from departing employees and identify areas for improvement.

  • Separation Process: Manage the employee separation process, including final paychecks, return of company property, and documentation.

Education & Experience

  • Seasoned HR professional with 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within the automotive industry or similar. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Possess a deep understanding of HR best practices, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and benefits administration

  • Strategic thinker who can develop and implement HR initiatives aligned with Progressive’s mission and goals

  • Effective communicator

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Adept at building relationships with employees at all levels

  • Strong understanding of employment law and compliance regulations

  • Proficient in HR software and information systems

  • Can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of efficiency and accuracy
