About the Student Pastor:

The Student Pastor will be responsible for leading the overall vision and mission of NorthField Student Ministry while also leading the Student Ministry Team with excellence. This position involves discipling middle and high school students, recruiting, developing, and retaining student ministry volunteers, and partnering with parents to help lead students in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Student Pastor's Responsibilities Include: 

• Serve as the Team Lead to provide spiritual leadership, strategic vision, and administrative oversight to implement the vision of NorthField Student Ministry in all aspects.

  • Spiritual Leadership - Provide overall pastoral care to students and their families while also facilitating spiritual growth by effectively communicating God’s Word in various channels

  • Strategic Vision - Create and implement strategies to effectively disciple middle and high school students, develop student leadership, recruit, train, and retain volunteers, collaborate to serve our community, and provide opportunities to partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their students.

  • Administrative Oversight - Provide strategic guidance in the planning and execution of weekly, monthly, and yearly ministry events; effective and timely communication with staff, volunteers, and parents; and developing and managing a yearly ministry calendar and budget that reflects the vision and accomplishes the goals and objectives of the ministry.

• Oversee the strategy and execution of developmentally appropriate midweek programming that supports the spiritual growth of middle and high school students. This includes separate worship environments for 6th-8th and 9th-12th grade students.

• Oversee the strategy and execution of developmentally appropriate Sunday morning programming that supports the spiritual growth of middle and high school students. This includes separate environments for 6th-8th and 9th-12th grade students.

• Provide excellent volunteer experience in the areas of recruitment, development, and retention through a presence of approachability, timely communication, and relevant training..

• Oversee the organization and execution of existing camp, retreat, and mission experiences. Responsible for making critical evaluations of the effectiveness of ministry experiences and making necessary adjustments when needed.

• Oversee the execution of recurring social events that foster connections among students and give opportunities to invite friends.

• Establish a NorthField Student Ministry presence at community events and school activities. Develop strategic relationships with club leaders, coaches, and community leaders that further NorthField’s reputation in the community.

• Contribute to the team mentality of the NorthField Staff, participate in “all-hands” events/activities,

• Provide pastoral care, when applicable. This may include responding to crisis, performing wedding/funeral ceremonies, sick visits, and additional pastoral duties as they arise.

• Other various duties assigned by the Senior/Executive Pastor.

What You Bring: 

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Student Pastor:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred

• 3+ years leading students in teaching, discipling, and cultivating ministry environments in a group size of about 100

• Experience leading a ministry through a team of volunteers, highly desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and administrative)

• Ability to connect with an emerging generation of students while maintaining credibility with previous generations

• Proficiency in the following software services will contribute to overall success; Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, G Suite, iWork/Microsoft 365, Canva, Dropbox
