Mt Pisgah Baptist Church was founded in 1866 following the Civil War. Since then the church has been an important part of the Vidalia community. It has had many periods of growth, contraction, and expansion over the past 158 years. The church sits on 9 acres of land complete with a Worship Center, Pastorium (Parsonage) and a multipurpose building.
The church serves the greater Vidalia area and is attended by people of all ages and stages from young families to older adults.
Mt Pisgah is seeking a Pastor to build on its strong foundation and lead the church into the future.
Mt Pisgah Baptist Church is seeking to hire a full-time Pastor to shape and lead our community in living out its missional faith in the Montgomery and Toombs County area.
Our priority is to identify a qualified person with a range of ministry related skills and passions who is eager to lead our church into a new season of flourishing. We seek a leader who is called by God and will lead us in our relationship with God. The ideal candidate will be a good fit for the culture of the church area and who can play a vital role in a balanced and dynamic ministry team.
The objective of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church pastor is to fulfill the position of pastor through teaching The Bible, leading and being a counselor and friend to the church and community.
Conduct weekly services
Sunday morning (11am) and evening (6pm)
Attend or conduct Wednesday evening prayer meeting
Plan and coordinate with other church members to conduct services
Coordinate services with choir director
Coordinate bulletin with secretary
Conduct special services such as Lord's Supper and Baptisms
Special council for those in need
Participate in church activities and functions
Perform weddings, funerals, etc. for church members
Ensure that pulpit is filled if not able on Sunday mornings and evenings
Provide leadership in all church operations including church staff, calendar, church office, and other duties as required.

Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree is required
Formal training in Bible. Theology and/or Ministry is strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A living and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ that is evident to all
A gifted leader who can administer and develop the areas under them.
A gifted communicator who can teach the Bible with clarity and passion
Able to train and equip ministry teams
Able to identify and recommend areas for revision or in need of change.
A shepherd who cares deeply about the people under their care.
A good steward of church resources – finances, property and time
Comfortable with managing complexity and skilled with time and priority management
