I love starting my mornings with a cup of coffee, reading through the daily blogs of some of my favorite leaders. I find it helpful to be challenged and inspired by people who have different experiences and perspectives than I do.
There are a lot of leadership blogs out there, especially in the church world. Here are ten practical ministry blogs that are worth every pastor subscribing to as you seek to grow as a leader.
Not only is Brian one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, but he also equips church leaders with insanely practical advice on his blog. He provides exceptional lists, interviews, and tips for church leaders. He does a great job of pointing out leadership lessons in all facets of life.
Brian Dodridge is the Executive Pastor at Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. He is a systems and processes guy and writes practical takeaways for everyday church leadership. He writes on staffing, leadership, and additional content specifically for Executive Pastors.
Dan Reiland is the Executive Pastor at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, GA. He writes on staffing and leadership. Dan was a guest facilitator in our Fall 2016 Executive Pastor Coaching Network, and his content was practical and inspiring for church leaders in churches of any size.
Shawn was the founding pastor of Mountain Lake Church in Cumming, GA, and now he coaches church leaders. On his blog CourageToLead.com, he provides practical tips on organizational culture, vision casting, and church health.
The 4Sight Group was founded by Jenni Catron who served on the executive team at Cross Point Church in Nashville and Menlo Church in Menlo Park, CA. I enjoy this group’s blog because it provides a myriad of perspectives from different authors, mostly millennial church leaders.
Our friend Tony Morgan and his team at The Unstuck Group are just as passionate as we are about having the right people in the right places on your church staff. Their blog is packed full of practical advice on topics like multisite, volunteer development, and breaking growth barriers.
In my opinion, Carey Nieuwhof has one of the best church leadership podcasts and blogs on the web. His articles are not only full of practical tips for church leaders but are also vulnerable and genuine as he shares his own mistakes he’s learned in his tenure.
Tim Stevens leads our Consulting Team and our Executive Pastor Coaching Network here at Vanderbloemen. On his LeadingSmart blog, he provides a roundup of his favorite leadership articles each Friday in a series called “Friday Finds.”
I appreciate Ron’s leadership blog because he’s a Senior Pastor and has a different perspective than an Executive Pastor. He leads Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. He writes on emotional health topics like taking criticism well and overcoming failure. His blog is also full of everyday, practical leadership “how-tos.”
I know I’m biased, but if I didn’t think our blog was worth every pastor reading, then I wouldn’t be writing for it. Our entire team contributes to our blog, and we spend a lot of time making sure it provides practical guidance for pastors and church leaders wanting to build, run, and keep great teams. We hope you find it helpful!
